Welcome to Framework for Change, the network responsible for delivering the Strategy for Sustainable Farming and Food in Yorkshire and The Humber.
Framework for Change (F4C) was born from need! The Curry Report highlighted a radical need for change within agriculture. Wholesale reform of CAP and the introduction of a comprehensive Environmental Stewardship scheme were the start of the process of change which has also seen the review and subsequent merging of the Levy Boards, the overhaul of business support, the creation of Natural England and the development of the new Rural Development Programme.
Climate change and sustainable consumption have also risen up the agenda and pose agriculture with a significant opportunity to redefine its ‘contract with society’ as an industry with potential solutions to offer.
Framework for Change was born in July 2003, to help deliver an entrepreneurial, dynamic and sustainable farming and food industry in the Yorkshire & Humber. In that time, the vision has not changed. We still need to see:
-
More farmers focussing on market need and planning their businesses accordingly
-
More transparent supply chains, adding & capturing value
-
Social and economic benefits from public investment in the environment.
